FEBRUARY FIRST FRIDAY

  • Tulsa Artists Fellowship 303 North Main Street Tulsa, OK, 74103 United States (map)

Tulsa Artist Fellowship welcomes our community to join us for First Friday on February 3! Archer Studios and Flagship will be open to visitors featuring awardees Arthur Haywood, Rafael Corzo, Quraysh Ali Lansana, Kalup Linzy, Karl Jones, Allison Herrera, and more.

Writer Quraysh Ali Lansana has organized Black Love: A Poetry Reading and Conversation for Tulsa-based poets and artists to explore the nourishment of healthy relationships within diverse communities with an emphasis on BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and nuclear love.

Public radio network 107.5 KOSU reporters, Kateleigh Mills and Allison Herrera, will host a community listening session about how news storytellers can best serve their community. This open forum will encourage questions and story suggestions from listeners. Kateleigh Mills is KOSU's engagement reporter covering elections and has worked with NPR's StoryCorps series "One Small Step." Allison Herrera is KOSU's Indigenous Affairs reporter.

Opening at 108|Contemporary, Francheska Alcántara and Kara Lynch are featured in Strange & Oppositional, a collective meditation on Black feminist fugitive aesthetics, mourning, and liberation. This exhibition presents a critical, reflective political art practice that considers generations and histories of Indigenous, Black, and Brown migrations. Strange & Oppositional honors where we come from and is a deep listening to where we are. It is an offering.

Closing this Friday, experience architect Bruse Goff's world come to life in a stunning exhibition at Tulsa Artist Fellowship's Archer Studio and Flagship buildings of archival material, photography, video, and art. Curated by Karl Jones, Lindsay Aveilhé, and Britni Harris, Bruce Goff: The Art of the Continuous Present celebrates the breadth of Goff’s work and influence in architecture and art. In partnership with Flash Flood Print Studios, a unique papercraft of Bruce Goff’s Page Warehouse (no longer standing) in Tulsa is available for takeaway.
