Magic City Books and Tulsa Artist Fellowship are proud to present Translating Trilogies and Triptychs with translators Will Vanderhyden and George Henson, moderated by Arthur Malcolm Dixon. This free event will take place in the Algonquin Room at Magic City Books on Saturday, June 10, at 2:00 pm with a book signing to follow.

Will Vanderhyden is a freelance translator, with an MA in Literary Translation from the University of Rochester. He has translated the work of Carlos Labbé, Rodrigo Fresán, and Fernanda García Lao, among others. His translation of The Invented Part by Rodrigo Fresán won the 2018 Best Translated Book Award.

George Henson is a translator of contemporary Latin American prose. He is the author of twelve book-length translations, including works by Cervantes Prize laureates Elena Poniatowska and Sergio Pitol. His translation of Pitol’s novel Taming the Divine Heron is due out in July with Deep Vellum Publishing. A 2021–2023 Tulsa Artist Fellow, he is a fifth-generation Oklahoman. 

Arthur Malcolm Dixon is co-founder, lead translator, and Managing Editor of Latin American Literature Today. He has translated the novels Immigration: The Contest by Carlos Gámez Pérez and There Are Not So Many Stars by Isaí Moreno (Katakana Editores), as well as the verse collection Intensive Care by Arturo Gutiérrez Plaza (Alliteratïon). He also works as a community interpreter in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is a Tulsa Artist Fellow.

The Rodrigo Fresán trilogy, published by Open Letter, includes The Dreamed Part, The Invented Part, and The Remembered Part; the Trilogy of Memory, by Sergio Pitol, includes The Art of Flight, The Journey, and The Magician of Vienna. Only one volume of the Carnival Triptych, The Love Parade, has been published to date.
