Abstract Painter



Cynthia Brown was born and raised in Tulsa where she currently resides. Brown earned her BFA and MFA from the University of Tulsa, and taught high school art for ten years. In 2013, she quit teaching for TPS and decided to put her energy into painting full time. In 2014, Brown was one of eleven artists from around the globe awarded a three-week residency at the Mark Rothko Contemporary Art Center in Daugavpils, Latvia where three of her paintings are in their permanent collection. In 2015, Cynthia began teaching abstract painting workshops and teaching adults throughout the community. In 2017, she was awarded a Tulsa Artist Fellowship by the George Kaiser Family Foundation.
