THE CENTER FOR QUEER PRAIRIE STUDIES

Curated by Karl Jones
April 5 - May 5, 2024
Archer Studios at Tulsa Artist Fellowship
109 N. MLK Blvd, Tulsa, OK 74103

Tulsa Artist Fellow alum-in-residence Karl Jones and Studio 66 co-director Chris VanDenhende reset the parafiction exhibition project, Center for Queer Prairie Studies, featuring the work of dozens of local artists representing the Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Stillwater and Bentonville, AR communities. The gallery acts as a museum store and one-of-a-kind queer creator economy boutique, as well as a dynamic community events space.

Blending past and present through visual and performance art, cultural identity and community engagement, radical queer futures emerge as C.Q.P.S. seeks to inspire a sense of wonder and awe at the depth and breadth of cultural contributions made by the region's 2SLGBTQ+ community today. Prairie as setting centers the land and our relationship to it within the context of queer visual and community culture.
